¿Preparada? ¡Vamos allá!

Be as precise as needed: if a measurement is 70.5, don't write 70 nor 71.
Please be as precise as needed: don't be afraid of using 1/2, 1/4 or even 3/8 and 7/8 on your measurements. On some measurements, a half an inch difference can be a lot. The more precise, the better.

Check all options that apply.

Waist

First of all, we need to locate your waist.
We will tie (preferably) an elastic tape around your natural waist, and this "line" will serve us as a reference for all vertical measurements, as they are all taken from or to the waist.

Your natural waistline is about 3-4cm, or 1"- 1" 1/2, above your belly button. On the sides, it is in between your upper hip bone and your bottom rib. You can easily locate it by bending sideways while touching and feeling the sides of your body.

Please tie your tape, cord or elastic string around it, and make sure it is leveled the same front and back, completely horizontal.

Beware: if your underwear, or even the elastic cord, causes an indentation on your waist, the waist measurement will be unrealistically too small and your garment will fit too small. To avoid this, use some underwear that don't pinch your waist and don't tie the elastic cord too tight.
Put the measuring tape around your waist, around the elastic tape. Measure the real waist contour (not less, not more) by fitting the elastic tape to the body. Do not leave it loose nor pull it too tight.

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your bust and make sure the measuring tape is leveled the same front and back, completely horizontal.

Now let's measure the overbust. Measure around your body, over your bust and under your arms. This time the measuring tape does not need to be horizontal.

Next: for the underbust contour, measure around your body and under your bust. Place the tape horizontally.

The underbust height is the vertical distance between your underbust and your waist.

For all vertical measurements: in case your elastic cord is wider than the one we used on our model, use the lower edge of it as the place to measure to/from.

Please include the wire of your bra in this measurement (in case it's wired), so you will start measuring from the top edge of the wire, until the lower edge of the elastic cord on your waist, vertically.
The bust height is the vertical distance between the apex of your bust (usually where the nipple is) down to the underbust. Do not include the wire of your bra (if wired) in this measurement.

Back width

When you are sure that you are finding this bone, you are ready to measure the back width.
Touch the shoulder from the back and you will find a bone.
Touch this bone on the left shoulder and then on the right.

Measure from the center of this bone on the left shoulder, to the center of the same bone on the right. You could mark it (with an eye pencil, for instance) to make it easier. The tape should be straight when you view it from your angle, but as the back is not a flat surface, it looks a bit curved on the picture.

Torso heights

We'll start by locating the neck-shoulder point. You will measure both the front and back torso heights from this point downwards.

This point is where the neck joins the torso. We could say it's the lowest point where you can say it's still the neck.

You can use the measuring tape to better visualize it: it must be at the highest part, between front and back.

You can also mark this point with a cosmetic pencil (maybe an eye or lip liner) to help you have it located while measuring the torso heights.

If you view it from the side, it's not necessarily at the middle between front and back, but at the highest point instead.

Before measuring these heights, make sure again the elastic tape is horizontal.

Now, standing on the side of the measured person, measure from the neck-shoulder point, vertically down to the waist, on the back.

As you see, the measuring tape looks curvy when viewed from the side and straight when viewed from the back.

For the front torso height measure again from the neck-shoulder point, across the apex of the bust, and vertically down to the waist.
Now you are here and without moving the measuring tape, measure the bust length too: from the neck-shoulder point, down to the apex of the bust.

Shoulder height

From the back shoulder bone you measured before, measure vertically down to the waist, on the back.

Underarm height

For this measurement, first thing to do is correctly locating the underarm point. Most people tend to locate it too high, but instead it should be low enough so your neckline (in case of a strapless garment) or your arm scye (in case of a garment with sleeves) feels comfortable and don't pinch your underarm. Let's see how to do it (it's easier than you think).

Use a ruler (or any other straight object you have at hand, even a pen will do) and place it under your arm so you are comfortable and it doesn't pinch you.
Place it completely horizontal.

Keep your finger at the resulting point.

Now you can lift your arm, being careful not to move the ruler/pen/whatever object you are using.

... and measure from this point, vertically down to the waist.

Neck contour

Measure around your neck, at its base.

Arms

From the back shoulder bone you measured before, measure vertically down to the waist, on the back.

Hips

To measure the hips contour: put the measuring tape around your hips, slightly above the fullest part of your bottom. Once there, hold the tape and, with slow motions, try to move it down , while allowing more tape to go around.
When you arrive to the fullest part, stop it there.

It may or may not be your case, but sometimes, the fullest part is not around the middle of your bottom when viewed from the side, but a bit below it. This happens when your hips are very prominent, or also if your thighs are large.

What is important when measuring the hips contour is measuring the fullest part, wherever this is on you.

Now let's determinate the hips length. Put one finger on the point where you measured the hips contour, on the side, while easing the measuring tape from around the hips.

Finally, measure from the waist, vertically down on the side, to the point where you measured the hips contour.

Next, while you keep your finger there, put one end of  the measuring tape on the waist, on the side.

Next: for the upper hips contour measure around the upper hip, about 10cm / 4" below the waist

For the upper hips length we'll repeat the same process as with the hip contour:

Put one finger on the place where you measured the upper hips contour, on the side of the body, while easing and removing the measuring tape from around the upper hips.

While you keep your finger there, put one end of  the measuring tape on the waist, on the side.

Finally, measure from the waist, vertically down on the side, to the point where you measured the upper hips contour.

* Here we are talking only about the upper hip bones, not about the whole hips * Each woman has her upper hip bones more or less prominent. This causes their upper hips to be more or less convex. Would you please rate how convex your upper hips are? Knowing this is helpful to us, but if you are not sure, it is not indispensable.

Thigh

The thigh contour: measure around your thigh, about 3" / 7cm below the crotch. It's recommended that you measure the right leg (if you are right-handed) beacuse it tends to be slightly thicker than the left one.

Again, keep a finger on the place where you measured the thigh contour (on the side), release the measuring tape, and measure from the waist down to this point.

Knee

Now let's locate the center of the knee: if you bend it, the knee center is its apex, viewed from the side. This is where we will measure the knee contour.

As usual, keep a finger on the place where you measured the knee contour (on the side), release the measuring tape, and measure from the waist down to this point.

Calf

The calf contour: measure around your calf at its widest part.
Again, keep a finger on the place where you measured the calf contour (on the side), release the measuring tape, and measure from the waist down to this point.

Total skirt / pants length

Most dresses or skirts have a given default length: mainly about calf-length, if they are not floor-length. If you wish yours to be different, or if you'd like its length to be very specific, please let us know here. If you are ordering a floorlength dress or gown, please measure from your waist till the floor, on the side of your body, and while wearing the same shoes you will be wearing with it (or a pair with the same heel height). * Note: if your garment is designed to be calf-length (it's stated at its description), it can be done in any other length, as it will be custom made for you. But if you choose a much longer length (for instance, tea length or ankle length), it will have an extra fee.

Crotch height

This is a very important measurement for any garment with legs, as it determines how low or high will the rise sit. To measure it, please sit on a flat, rigid surface, making sure your back is straight. Avoid sitting on a soft chair, use a rigid one or even a table instead.

Measure on the side of your body, from the waist, straight down to the surface you are sitting on.
Now we will measure the total front + back rise. For that, the person who is getting measured will hold the edge of the measuring tape at her waist (at the center front of her waist), allowing the tape to hang down the front.

Then, the person who is taking the measurements will pass the rest of the measuring tape in between the measured person's legs, towards the back and until the waist at the center back.

Make sure the tape is not loose and not tight either.

Hints / requirements

Please let us know if you think there is something about your figure we should know or would be helpful to us. Like for instance, if you have an athletic constitution, or if all garments make a fold on the back of your waist. If you prefer your garment to fit slightly loose or tight, here is the right place to write it too. Thanks!
